Associate Director of Development

CaringKind is seeking an Associate Director of Development to oversee the annual CaringKind New York City Alzheimer’s Walk and all cornerstone athletic events including the NYC Marathon, NYC Half Marathon, and TD Five Boro Bike Tour. As a key member of the Development Team, the Associate Director of Development works to build relationships between the community and CaringKind that strategically align with the mission and provide value to the organization. The Associate Director of Development is responsible for leading initiatives that foster community growth, engagement, and partnerships. Other aspects of the role include project management and providing support to volunteers, walkers, and athletes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies to grow the CaringKind Walk and Athletic Events in which the Associate Director of Development oversees including the overall fundraising goal, attendee goal, and sponsorship goal.
  • Cultivate and strengthen diverse relationships within the community across all levels of donors and clients to foster trust, engagement, and continued participation.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for CaringKind while attending and participating in all work-related events; comfortable with leading small to large groups with mission-driven events.
  • Implement the long-term goals and objectives of the organization’s Strategic Plan to achieve successful outcomes for fundraising development to support organizational programs and services.
  • Provide a high level of support to key partners including major donors, sponsors, honorees, clients, athletes, and walkers.
  • Identify potential new donors and corporate partners that align with our organizational values and cultivate relationships with them to gain their support.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining sponsor, donor and volunteer relationships.

Other Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the contracted Walk logistics team to achieve a well-organized and successful CaringKind New York City Alzheimer’s Walk.
  • Work closely with The Athlete’s to End Alzheimer’s Team to ensure they receive the support needed to meet and exceed the required fundraising minimum and their personal fundraising goals.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation, permits, applications, and contracts are submitted and executed by specified deadlines with external organizations, such as NYC Parks, NYRR, and TD Five Boro Bike Tour to ensure CaringKind’s participation in the NYC Marathon, Half Marathon, Bike Tour, and The CaringKind New York City Alzheimer’s Walk.
  • Work closely with finance and Development team to ensure all revenue and expenses are within budget.
  • Plan and lead regular Athletes to End Alzheimer’s cultivation networking opportunities to strengthen the ATEA community.
  • Work with any community partners and volunteers committed to developing a supporter event benefiting CaringKind and providing any support they need to ensure the success of the event.
  • Always maintain a positive presence and represent the organization in a professional manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of donor information and collaborate closely with the Finance Team to ensure seamless communication and transparency between the donors and the organization.

Minimum requirements

  • A minimum of 4 years of Development, fundraising, and partnership experience preferred, ideally gained in a nonprofit organization.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as business, finance, public relations, marketing, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in Event Planning. Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of Walk and athletic events, including participant recruitment, route planning, logistics, and volunteer management.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, Classy, and other relevant software.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000

Program Operations Lead (0.5 to 1.0 FTE)

CaringKind is seeking a Program Operations Lead responsible for the day-to-day operations and administration of all program activities. This seasoned program leader will collaborate with the department leaders to optimize processes and workflows to improve efficiencies as CaringKind programs and services continue to grow and expand. The Program Operations Lead will develop and streamline program and service operations for seamless delivery while ensuring solid programmatic infrastructure and continuous staff learning.

This position reports to the Chief Operations Officer with dotted line reporting to program department leaders (including Chief Innovation Officer, Chief Research, Grants & Evaluation Officer, Directors of Family Support Services, Early Stage and Engagement, and Education). This position may be combined with another role for a full-time position depending on background and experience.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborates closely with department leaders to ensure seamless execution of all program activities particularly on-site, hybrid and virtual activities.
  • Oversees/updates daily processes and workflows to optimize efficiency and quality.
  • Oversees daily Salesforce activity tracking to ensure accuracy for regular program data reporting and compliance to Grant deliverables.
  • Oversees internal program calendar and staffing.
  • Creates and maintains program collateral while providing ongoing staff training on processes.
  • Monitors staff time tracking and reporting under the direction of CFO.
  • Collaborates on the supervision of program support staff and volunteers.
  • Provides occasional oversight of staff.
  • Ensures office and public spaces promote a welcoming environment.
  • Regularly monitors content/information supplied for programs and events calendar, web-updates and monthly events e-blasts.
  • Assists with programming as needed.

Expectations and Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in health related or non-profit field, i.e. public health, public administration, psychology, gerontology. A Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in dementia/aging services required.
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisor experience, operations, or project management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • High Level of technological competency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Work, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams), ZOOM, email marketing platforms, web calendar/content management systems, and Salesforce.
  • Experience and passion for working with individuals who have Alzheimer’s or other dementias, as well as with diverse populations, staff and volunteers.

Therapeutic Specialist – Early Stage & Engagement (Per diem)

CaringKind is seeking a dedicated Program Specialist to play a pivotal role in our Early-Stage programs, designed to support individuals living with dementia and their families. This role focuses on delivering research-backed services and fostering social/community engagement, available in-person at our Manhattan offices, partner locations, and virtually.

Reporting to the Director of Early-Stage and Engagement Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and lead in-person and virtual evidence-based small group programs, including music therapy, cognitive stimulation therapy, psycho-social education workshops, support groups, and art/music/exercise/social engagement activities.
  • Conduct program and needs assessments, as well as intake and follow-up interviews with individuals experiencing mild cognitive impairment (MCI).
  • Cultivate and nurture community and referral relationships through closed-loop communications.
  • Collaborates with CaringKind team members to anticipate and foster smooth transitions across the dementia services continuum as clients’ needs change and progress to provide ongoing opportunities for family members.
  • Provide services in community-based satellite locations and with special and targeted populations to increase equity, access, and inclusion.

Expectations and Required Skills:

  • Master’s degree in music therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, drama therapy, occupational therapy required or combination of education and significant related experience. (Music Therapist preferred)
  • 2+ years of experience working in dementia/aging services.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Therapeutic Specialist – Home, Safety, and Adaptive Technologies (0.5 to 0.8 FTE)

CaringKind is seeking a Therapeutic Specialist who will play a key role in supporting persons living with dementia (PLWD) and their family Care Partners (CPs). The Therapeutic Specialist will identify and implement leading-edge technology solutions to enhance home, safety, independence, and meaningful engagement for PLWDs and their CPs. In this role, you will be the CaringKind expert on low and high technology solutions, educating staff, family networks, and industry professionals through workshops, one-on-one consultations, and resource development.

The Therapeutic Specialist reports to the Director of Early-Stage and Engagement Services with dotted line reporting to the Chief Innovation Officer. This position may be combined with another role for a full-time position depending on background and experience.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead CaringKind staff resource for all matters related to technology, safety, home, and adaptive solutions for PLWDs and CPs.
  • Research and contribute to the evaluation of emerging technologies, ensuring they meet the needs of our clients.
  • Seek and pursue innovative funding to ensure affordability of technology solutions for CaringKind families.
  • Deliver knowledge through education sessions, small-group workshops, and one-on-one consultations for PLWDs and CPs.
  • Train staff on current industry solutions and best practices.
  • Maintain and curate a comprehensive online resource list of solutions on the CaringKind website.
  • Develop and oversee communication initiatives to build strong relationships with families by keeping them informed of engagement opportunities through email blasts, social media, and newsletters.

Expectations and Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in an aging related field, i.e., occupational therapy, gerontology, therapeutic recreation, nursing, health/human services. A Master's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Possess a deep understanding of aging-in-place and dementia-related technologies, home and safety solutions.
  • Ability to work independently while taking direction and executing tasks autonomously.
  • High level of technological competency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams), social media platforms, and Salesforce.
  • Experience and passion for working in therapy services and with individuals who have Alzheimer’s or other dementias, as well as with diverse populations and cultures.
  • Ability to stay positive to strengthen smooth transitions across the dementia services continuum, and desire to adapt to changing client needs.
  • Primarily on-site role; occasional evenings and weekends.
