Our experienced staff offers educational programs to sensitize professionals and para-professionals to the special needs of people with dementia and their families.
Understanding Dementia for Professionals
This educational seminar provides an opportunity for professionals to learn about Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia, and how to apply this information to their profession. After attending this course, social workers and health care professionals who are new to the field of dementia, will be able to:
- Explain how dementia manifests and progresses
- Recognize common symptoms throughout the progression of Alzheimer’s disease
- Apply strategies to engage a person with dementia
- Identify CaringKind resources available for professionals, individuals living with the disease, and families affected by dementia
CaringKind SW CPE is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #0068.
2 Social Work Continuing Education Contact Hours are available for a fee.

Support Group Leader Training
CaringKind’s Support Group Leader Training Workshops are offered several times each year and are open to health care professionals and former care partners who are interested in leading one of our support groups.
This intensive training incorporates both educational materials with experiential group learning and includes information about dementia, care-partnering and how support groups work, as well as an overview of services offered by CaringKind.
