Tom Wolzien’s 55 year career has spanned multiple disciplines including Wall Street research analyst, television network executive and news producer, inventor, and consultant to senior managements of major media and technology organizations.
As an analyst at Sanford Bernstein he was first on Wall Street to identify the potential of cable modems, cable telephony, and streaming video as an alternate distribution system to cable and broadcast.
As a television network executive and producer at NBC he helped start CNBC, was White House producer, Nightly News producer, and ran coverage of major events like election nights, presidential campaigns, and the Three Mile Island nuclear incident
As an inventor he holds three dozen US and international patents starting with systems and processes to use a televison remote control for “more information” and more recently the management of large numbers of incoming video remotes via hand held devices for television news and sports production.
As a consult he provided forward looking industrial and financial analysis to leadership of organizations and companies including the Directors’ Guild of America, CBS, Discovery, Hearst, Sony, Warner Bros., and Microsoft. He was lead director of the public company, Tivo.
He and his wife, Valerie, make their residence in a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Sleepy Hollow, NY. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of Caring Kind since January 2025.
